A single gift stocks a family's kitchen with nutritious staples — enough to keep four people fed for seven days without choosing between groceries and rent.
When a family runs out of food mid-month, the choice is often between filling the tank and filling the fridge. Our Family Food Boxes close that gap with a week's worth of staples, protein, and fresh produce.
In Chester County, working parents, single caregivers, and newly unemployed neighbors routinely stretch thin budgets past the breaking point. A grocery shortfall is not a planning failure — it is the arithmetic of low wages meeting rising prices.
Each box is packed with dignity in mind: no expired goods, no mystery cans, and enough variety for real meals. Families leave knowing they can cook dinner tonight and still have breakfast on Friday.
On the third Saturday of every month, volunteers gather at our Chester distribution site to assemble Family Food Boxes under the direction of Program Director Sandra Johnson. Boxes include shelf-stable staples, refrigerated proteins, fresh produce from partner farms, and a short recipe card.
Distribution is open to any household that needs help — no income verification, no appointment required. Guests are greeted by name when we know them, and new families are welcomed without paperwork that feels like a test.
Executive Director Antonio Davidson and our volunteer team review inventory each week so boxes stay balanced, seasonal, and culturally familiar to the families we serve.
Your gift buys groceries that become home-cooked meals — the kind of help that keeps kids focused in school and parents from skipping meals so others can eat.

That box meant my kids ate real dinners for a week after I got laid off. I walked out of there feeling like somebody still saw us.
