What We're Solving

Hunger That Arrives Without Warning

Most of our programs run on a calendar. Emergencies do not. When a family loses a home to fire, when a plant layoff hits mid-month, when the power is shut off and the freezer empties, food becomes an immediate crisis — not a next-week appointment.

Pastors, caseworkers, and neighbors call us when someone has nowhere to turn that night. Without a dedicated emergency reserve, we would have to pull inventory from scheduled programs or ask a family to wait until the next Saturday box distribution.

The Emergency Food Response Fund keeps pre-packed kits, gift cards for perishables, and volunteer callout capacity ready so help can move within 24 hours — with dignity, confidentiality, and no red tape that delays a meal.

Our Approach

How Your Gift Becomes Rapid Relief

Executive Director Antonio Davidson and Program Director Sandra Johnson authorize emergency releases when a verified need is referred by a partner church, school, clinic, or public safety contact. Volunteer Coordinator Linda Parker activates a short list of on-call packers and drivers.

Kits include shelf-stable meals, water, hygiene basics when needed, and a path into ongoing programs once the immediate crisis stabilizes. Response targets are simple: contact within hours, food at the door within a day.

  • 24-hour response goal from referral to food delivery
  • Covers storms, layoffs, utility shut-offs, and house fires
  • Pre-packed kits staged at 669 Charity Road, Chester, SC
  • Confidential, referral-based — no public line, no stigma

Funds not spent in a quiet month stay reserved for the next surge — they are never diverted to unrelated overhead without board oversight.

After the fire, we had clothes from neighbors and nowhere to cook. Charity Food Ministry showed up the next afternoon with bags and water. That was the first thing that felt normal again.
