Community Hot Meals Program Expands to York County

Community hot meal service

Charity Food Ministry is proud to announce a major expansion of our Community Hot Meals program. Starting in April 2026, we will serve an additional 150 hot meals each week at a new location in York County, bringing our total weekly meal service to over 250 meals.

Why York County?

Food insecurity data from the South Carolina Department of Social Services shows that York County has seen a 12% increase in families seeking food assistance over the past two years. Many of these families live in areas without easy access to a food pantry or community kitchen.

"We kept hearing from York County residents who were driving 30–40 minutes to reach our Chester location," said Antonio Davidson, Executive Director. "Expanding into York County was not just a strategic decision — it was a moral one. Our neighbors shouldn't have to choose between gas money and groceries."

New Location & Schedule

The new hot meal service will operate every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at a partner church location in York. The menu will feature the same nutritious, home-cooked meals served at our Chester fellowship hall — including entrees, sides, salads, and desserts.

How You Can Help

This expansion requires additional volunteers, food supplies, and kitchen equipment. Here's how you can support the launch:

  • Volunteer as a meal server or kitchen helper on Thursday evenings
  • Donate $50 to sponsor 10 hot meals for York County families
  • Spread the word to York County neighbors who may need food assistance
